Part 1 Schedular Requirements Many disabilities can leave a veteran unable to maintain employment.

The veteran has two or more disabilities with one disability rated at 40 or more with a combined rating of 70 or more. The veteran has one service-connected disability rated at 60 or more. Veterans who cant obtain or keep employment because of their injuries or conditions stemming from their time in service may be granted TDIU. Individual Unemployability Requirements for Veterans. VA outlines TDIU requirements under 38 CFR 416 which encompasses subsections a and b. In order to qualify for TDIU under 38 CFR 416 a a veteran must have. You cant hold down a steady job that supports you financially known as substantially gainful employment because of your service-connected. This means maintaining substantially gainful employment.

But 100 ratings can be rare and hard to achieve. In order to be gainful employed the veteran must have earnings above the poverty level just over 12000 for a single person. Even though VA has not rated their service-connected disabilities at that level. You must be a Veteran.

Individual Unemployability is a part of VAs disability compensation program that allows VA to pay certain Veterans disability compensation at the 100 rate even though VA has not rated their service-connected disabilities at the total level. Total Disability Individual Unemployability or TDIU is a rating for veterans who cant work due to their service-connected disability. If the claimant has only one service-connected condition that condition must be schedular rated at least 60 or more. Who Is Eligible for Individual Unemployability. There are two ways to qualify for schedular TDIU.
